Pet-friendly workplaces: are they a good idea? 🤔

The pandemic years have not been easy for anyone, with one notable exception - pets. Adoption rates for rescues increased drastically and all over the world, pets were delighted that their owners were always home. 

Whilst some companies are preparing to open their offices post-pandemic, thousands of pet owners are experiencing similar feelings. They are concerned about how going back to work will affect their pet. One of my clients told me, "Adopting a dog during the pandemic has definitely changed my perspective on how I work going forward”. 

Companies are now looking for solutions that will make their employees and pets happy. For instance, many offices are planning to be pet-friendly. But is this really the best option for your pet? Don't get me wrong - I am delighted that the number of pet-friendly workplaces continues to grow and that offices are becoming more progressive. However, there are so many factors that (responsible) pet owners take into consideration such as:

Is my dog comfortable around strangers? Does my dog get along with other dogs? Will my dog be relaxed at the office? Is there a park nearby where my dog can go potty? Can I bring my dog on the bus? Is my dog insured in case of an accident?

As some offices reopen, many workers are choosing their pets over their jobs. Pet owners value remote work and flexible schedules way more than before. And so they should!
