How do you build your network virtually? 💻

Over 80% of job seekers say that their network has helped them find work. This is even more true when looking for remote work specifically. But you don’t have to just network in person.

Here are a few tips to help you build your network virtually:

  1. Join virtual events: tap into opportunities like virtual job fairs but also virtual meetups, webinars, virtual conferences, virtual networking events, and get your name out there!

  2. Contact webinar leaders and attendees: after attending a webinar, connect with leaders and attendees and continue the discussion. Share your ideas and thoughts. Ask questions and give meaningful/constructive feedback. Check whether their organisation is hiring!

  3. Join LinkedIn groups: LinkedIn enables professionals to network, connect and share knowledge and I just can’t say enough good things about joining professional LinkedIn groups. I recently started a LinkedIn group called Remote Rebellion to connect professionals seeking remote work. Join here.

  4. Get involved in Slack groups: you can connect with people with similar interests on Slack. Take a look at these Slack communities for remote workers.

  5. Use virtual coworking spaces: virtual office solutions like Pesto and Sococo make it easy for remote workers like you to connect and stay connected with other professionals from wherever they are.

  6. Make the most of your existing network: it may seem obvious, but reaching out to people you already know can help you meet other professionals in your field or industry… or even get you a remote job!
