Despite the vast majority of employees saying they would prefer the freedom to choose where they work, there’s only a small percentage of companies that offer true work from anywhere.

I am of course in support of being able to work from anywhere, so whilst I agree there are challenges to offering work-from-anywhere jobs- there are hundreds if not thousands of organisations that DO offer this!

The term “work from anywhere” is often used interchangeably with “remote work,” but not all remote jobs are created equal. A true work-from-anywhere company goes beyond simply allowing employees to work from home. Here’s what defines a genuine work-from-anywhere organization:

First, these companies typically have no central office. They are either fully distributed or remote-first, meaning employees are not expected to report to a physical location. This gives team members the flexibility to work from different countries, time zones, or even while traveling.

Fourth, they support cultural and lifestyle diversity. These companies prioritize inclusivity, understanding that their employees live in different time zones, have different customs, and may not conform to traditional 9-to-5 schedules.

Finally, many offer nomad-friendly perks. These can include co-working space stipends, annual travel budgets, remote equipment allowances, and even help with visas or tax support. All of this makes the experience of working from anywhere sustainable over the long term.
