Customer Success Consultant
"I Have A Future Again"
Tyler's Story
Tyler is originally from the United States. He moved to Germany for a master's degree and ended up staying, and along the way he fell into customer success, where he's worked for around eight years. He was recruited into a role, then the whole team was let go, which hit his confidence hard. That was in 2022, and it took him a year to find another job. It was based in Hamburg, and six months in they both realized it wasn't a good fit.
By 2023 he'd noticed a drastic change in the market. He spent a whole year on his own trying to network and land something, and it didn't work. He ended up working in a cafΓ© for a year at minimum wage, which was a big adjustment after a large salary. He was burned out on the process, started researching where else he could go, and came across Remote Rebellion.
He was skeptical at first, but he followed along, liked the vibe and what he was seeing, had an initial meeting, and committed. What stood out most was how structured the course is. It makes you do homework, and he has a whole notebook full of it: what do I want, what's important, how do I get there, what's the logical next step? Everyone in the community was empathetic, and that's what stuck with him most.
Working through those questions shifted his priorities. He wanted to stay in a similar environment without the day-to-day customer side, closer to solutions engineering or internal consulting. He's now a customer success consultant, he's no longer living paycheck to paycheck or off his savings, and he gets to build those savings back up. His first trip will be to Tunisia to visit a friend. After a rough stretch, he says he has a future again.
His advice is that you have to invest in yourself somehow, and part of that is spending money on things that upskill you. You also join a community of people running the same kind of job search, and you know you're investing in your future self.
