Why a Remote Job Fair?
She asked me WHY.
“Why do you want to do this job fair?”
“I just do,” I replied.
“But why?” she pressed again.
That second “why” really made me pause.
It stuck in my head. For days.
And I couldn’t stop thinking about it — during meetings, while making coffee, and especially on long walks with the dog.
I knew there was a deeper reason behind it. I just hadn’t put it into words yet.
Spoiler alert: it’s not because I want to make millions and retire early.
(Although let’s be honest — an early retirement wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.)
But no. That’s not the reason.
The real reason behind creating this remote job fair came into focus slowly, but clearly.
I work with so many incredible people — smart, kind, skilled, thoughtful humans — who are doing everything right in their search for a remote job.
They’re intelligent. They’re clear communicators. They know how to solve complex problems, they’re great team players, and they genuinely want to do meaningful work.
And yet… they’re still struggling to get hired
One of the biggest reasons?
Their brilliance doesn’t always shine through on a piece of paper.
A resume can only say so much. A LinkedIn profile can only go so far.
Yes, we can help job seekers with personal branding, resume strategy, LinkedIn optimization, interview prep — all of it. And it helps. But it still doesn’t replace real human connection.
I hear this all the time:
“If I could just get on a call with someone, I know I’d get the job.”
But those calls are harder than ever to come by.
Because right now, the remote job market feels more like a machine than a movement.
Companies are using AI to write job descriptions that all look and sound the same.
Candidates are using AI to write resumes and cover letters that blend into a sea of sameness.
There’s mass applying, mass ghosting, and rejection emails from “no reply” inboxes.
People are jumping through hoops just to get an automated response.
And yes — even interviews are being outsourced to AI tools now.
It’s a system where bots talk to bots. And that means amazing humans are getting lost in the noise.
Meanwhile, companies are missing out on incredible talent — simply because someone didn’t use the “right” keywords or upload their resume in a particular format.
And that’s the part that really got to me.
Because no one’s the villain here.
Not recruiters. Not job seekers.
We’re all just stuck in a broken system.
THAT’S why I created this remote job fair.
Not as a quick fix.
Not as a gimmick.
But as a way to bring back what’s missing from the hiring process: human connection.
This remote job fair is a space where:
Remote-first companies can meet outstanding talent who may not tick every “traditional” box, but are exceptional at what they do.
Job seekers can actually talk to companies — share their story, ask questions, and get a feel for the culture, not just the job description.
Hiring managers, recruiters, and founders can showcase what makes their company a great place to work — beyond salary and perks.
Candidates can find a remote job that actually aligns with their values, strengths, and lifestyle — not just something that pays the bills.
The remote job fair is about fit. Alignment. Mutual discovery.
And ultimately — giving both sides a chance to connect without all the noise.
Because behind every resume is a real person.
And behind every company is a group of people trying to build something meaningful.
This is my why.
To build a space that helps both sides of the hiring process rediscover what matters — the people.
So thank you to my amazing new Ops Director for asking me that simple, uncomfortable, necessary question.
It’s exactly what I needed.
