Breaking the Myth: Remote Opportunities Beyond Tech (2024 Update)
“There aren’t remote jobs in my field.”
“There’s only Remote Tech jobs.”
I hear this quite a lot, so I looked at the data. In the last 2 years, less than 17% of the people I’ve helped to get a fully remote job have been ‘techies’- the other 83%, as you can see have been across many other sectors.
Remote Opportunities Beyond Tech
If you thought remote work was all about coding and IT gigs, think again!
There are plenty of remote opportunities outside of tech that are booming right now. In 2024, sectors like marketing, finance, human resources, and even healthcare are offering more remote roles than ever before. For instance, 15% of roles in marketing and creative industries are now remote, along with 11% in finance and accounting, and 10% in legal and administrative support. These roles are far from just tech-centric; they involve creative strategizing, customer service, administrative management, and more—proving that you don’t need to be a tech wizard to join the remote revolution.
A lot of companies are catching on to the fact that remote work isn’t just for developers, and they’re hiring accordingly. Roles like customer support, content creation, financial analysis, and HR management have all gone remote in a big way. In fact, industries such as healthcare are even getting in on the action, with about 10% of roles now being done remotely. If you’ve got the skills to communicate well, self-manage, and have a solid internet connection, you can find a remote position beyond the tech bubble that aligns perfectly with your background and passions.
What’s really interesting is that many hiring managers are now looking for talent who can work from anywhere. Companies are actively seeking professionals who want more flexibility in fields like finance, HR, and marketing. And guess what? Remote roles attract three times as many applications compared to in-office jobs!
This trend is being driven by more people wanting that elusive work-life balance—freedom from the commute, more time for family, and the ability to work in yoga pants if that’s your style. It’s clear that remote work opportunities beyond tech aren’t just growing; they’re exploding in popularity among applicants who crave that freedom and autonomy.
We often tell ourselves a story to make it easier for us to handle things, but if you want something badly enough, don’t let people tell you that something is too hard or isn’t possible.
Make it happen!
And if you don’t know how to, ask for help!
