How to look for remote jobs on LinkedIn? 🔍
Finding remote jobs on LinkedIn is easier than you think—if you know where to look! Think of LinkedIn as your treasure map, and remote jobs as the gold (minus the pirates, thankfully). 🏴☠️ Here’s how to uncover those remote gems:
1. Use the LinkedIn Job Search Filters
Head to the Jobs tab and type in your dream role—something like “Content Marketer,” “Web Developer,” or “Professional Coffee Taster” (hey, no judgment here!). In the location bar, instead of entering a city, type “Remote”. LinkedIn will instantly show you remote opportunities tailored to your search. Magic, right?
And yes, we also know that there are a lot of jobs that are not truly remote but hybrid or else. And they are on every corner. Just be persistent and you can get there!
2. Take Advantage of Alerts
Once you’ve set up your remote job search, turn on job alerts. LinkedIn will slide into your inbox with new remote roles faster than you can say, “Is this a scam?” Spoiler: It’s probably not. 😅
3. Connect with Remote-First Companies
Use LinkedIn’s Company Search to find organizations that embrace remote work. Type terms like “remote-first,” “distributed team,” or “global team” in the search bar. Follow their pages to stay updated on job openings, company culture, and cool memes they share. Bonus points if you engage with their content—it might get you noticed!
4. Join Remote Work Groups
LinkedIn has a ton of professional groups dedicated to remote work. Just search for groups like “Remote Jobs & Work From Home Opportunities” or “Digital Nomads Network” and join the ones that catch your eye. People in these groups often post jobs, tips, and even insider connections to companies that hire remotely.
Go ahead, and give these tips a try! Your next remote job might just be a few clicks away. 🙌
How do you optimise LinkedIn to land a remote job? 👀
As part of your online presence, LinkedIn is crucial!
One of LinkedIn's coolest features is that it functions as an extended CV/resume. LinkedIn allows you to build a personal brand that can help you network. In order to receive remote jobs instead of only local ones, you need to optimise your profile for remote work.
Here are 3 things you need to know:
If you’re open to remote opportunities, you can make it easier for recruiters to find you in LinkedIn search results. Simply, go to the LinkedIn settings and specify that you are open to remote opportunities as well as jobs in other places. You can up to 5 job titles and remote locations- use them all!
Your LinkedIn summary, skills section, and experience section should also contain relevant keywords for your targeted job/s so that you will be even more searchable.
A good way to get recruiters and professionals to click on your profile is to have a professional picture of you and a catchy headline. Depending on the industry and role you’re targeting, show a little of your personality and stand out.
The importance of networking cannot be overstated, whether it is for building a community or for remote job hunting. You can start by checking LinkedIn to find out who you know that works at the remote companies you’re interested in. A referral from someone you know can be a great way to get a remote job!
Those are just a few quick ways you can increase your chances of finding remote work. In my coaching programme, I help clients optimise their LinkedIn profiles (and much much more) so that they get noticed and contacted by recruiters and hiring managers.
I recently had a client who increased her following, profile views, and impressions by 60% in less than 6 months! As a result, she landed a flexible remote job so that she can still take her dog for walks at lunch and spend time with her husband without having the drain of the commute.
