Spain launches a digital nomad visa for remote workers

With some of the best internet speeds in the EU, a low cost of living and plenty of lovely weather, Spain is already a popular place for remote workers.

The Spain Digital Nomad Visa was only announced this month and details are still being finalized. What we do know is that you need to demonstrate that you have been working remotely for at least a year and have a contract of employment or, if freelancing, have been regularly employed by a company outside of Spain.

Here are some additional requirements:

  • Must be earning twice the national minimum wage of Spain.

  • If the current minimum monthly salary is €1,050, then the digital Nomads must prove that their income is €2,000, if not €3,000.

  • Proof of working with a company for at least three months.

  • Evidence that the company allows a remote work environment.

  • Proof of accommodation in order to be qualified for the Spain digital nomad visa.

Since Spain has not officially launched the digital nomad visa yet, you can work in any of the EU countries below that have a digital nomad visa:

Croatia

Cyprus

Estonia

Greece

Hungary

Iceland

Latvia

Malta

Romania

The Netherlands

Norway

Keep an eye on the news as it won’t be long before you can get your application in and your flights booked!
